nonveridical spaces

A light behind a wall, the shadow from underneath a staircase, the groins of a vaulted ceiling; these are all elements that inspired this project. When observing an enclosed space, I am always intrigued by the shapes produced by light sources and by the shadows they cast. By closing up on architectural elements and enhancing the relationships of light and shadow, I set out to create images that emphasizes the geometric forms that caught my attention, while at the same time detaching the resulting image from the very space it portrays. In the process of flattening tridimensional spaces, the ability to accurately reproduce actual spatial relationships on a bidimensional support is called into questio
